March Projects

  1. Tape Art Project: (March 4-21, 2018) 
    Tape Art is an artwork created with adhesive tape such as duct tape or packing tape. It emerged from urban art in the 1960s, as an alternative to the widely-spread use of spray cans amid urban art (street art) scenes. (Tape Over) and (Tape That), two groups of artists from Berlin, will design artworks for the main facade of each museum of ASCC, allowing the public to distinguish each building’s purpose. This will be the first Tape Art show in the history of Kuwait.

  • Installation of artworks by (Tape That) group will be from the 5th to 12th of March.
  • Workshop by (Tape That) group will take place on March 11th and 12th.
  • Installation of artworks by (Tape Over) group will be from the 12th to 21st of March.
  • Three different Workshops will be held by (Tape Over) on the 20th and 21st  of March.
  1. Eco Art: (March 9-17, 2018)
    Eco Art is an artistic practice, proposing patterns of how to sustain life forms and resources on our planet. The project aims at using discarded materials, left after finishing the fit out of the museums, and recycling them into artworks. Eco Art Organization along with local ecological groups will collaborate to produce Eco-friendly artworks, assisting in increasing public environmental awareness. Eco Art consists of:

    • Creating artworks with ASCC waste material from 9th to 17th of March.

    • Workshops from 14th to 16th of Match.

    • Seminar by Eco Art Founder on March 17.

  2.  DURAR: (March 14-15, 2018)  
    DURAR is an international research and training programme led by experts from within the creative community. It aims to foster capacity-building, innovation, creativity and dialogue within the sector, reflecting the needs of local environment.  

    • DURAR programmes demonstrate how cultural heritage can be a vehicle for innovation; how it can offer investment opportunities leading to socio-economic growth, market expansion, job creation and youth empowerment, meanwhile promoting social cohesion and environmental sustainability.

    • DURARconsists of:

      • Roundtable Discussions

      • Consultancy Sessions 

      • Professional Workshops.

    • Hosting international and local experts, the conference will address the following:

      • Cultural and Creative Tourism development, its Opportunities and Potentials.
